The project: At The Ottawa Hospital’s Rehabilitation Centre, every second counts. In an environment where communication between patients and medical teams is essential, a reliable nurse call system is not a luxury, it’s a necessity. GMS Security was mandated to modernize the existing system, replacing an aging solution with technology that meets today’s requirements.
The challenge
The project aimed to replace the Dukane ProCare 6000 system in more than 100 rooms, spread across the care units, the rehabilitation spaces, the pool and the gym, without disrupting the daily operations of an active hospital centre.
The solution
Through an innovative approach, Luvicom designed an adapter allowing the use of the existing cabling, eliminating the need for major work, a responsible, eco-friendly and economical solution. This approach allowed for a faster installation, a significant reduction in costs and, above all, minimal impact on daily operations.
The choice fell on Luvicom Eclipse, a Canadian nurse call system certified UL1069, recognized for its reliability and performance in hospital environments. The system enables instant, two-way communication, a faster response to patients’ needs and simplified management for the teams. With its smart hands-free stations and its intuitive interface, it improves the experience for both staff and patients.
