Water damage is among the most frequent insurance claims in Canada. A well-installed detection system locates the leak, shuts off the water supply automatically and alerts our monitoring station, all in a few seconds.
GMS installs two complementary solutions depending on your needs: NOWA for leak detection and AQUA-PROTEC for protection against sewer backups.
NOWA detects the presence of water using sensors positioned at strategic spots in your home. As soon as a leak is detected, the system sounds the alarm, automatically closes the main water supply valve and alerts your GMS monitoring station.
The system is fully modular. You can add wireless or wired sensors at any time, even after the initial installation.
Built-in low-temperature detector: While you’re away, NOWA also monitors the ambient temperature of your home. If it drops below 5 °C, the water supply valve closes automatically to prevent pipe damage.
AQUA-PROTEC is the only fully automatic sewer backup system on the market. It detects a backup within seconds and inflates a pneumatic balloon to immediately seal the drain pipe. An alarm and a display screen warn the occupants.
Once the backup is over, the balloon deflates automatically and returns to its position without obstructing the pipe. No manual maintenance required between events.
The City of Ottawa offers a grant program for the installation of backwater valve devices. Check the details on ottawa.ca to verify your eligibility before proceeding.
